Events for the 150th anniversary of Frank Lloyd Wright

June 8th sees the 150th anniversary of the birth of architect Frank Lloyd Wright, one of the most important architects of the 20th century, and two leading New York institutions, MoMA and the Guggenheim Museum, are preparing a series of events and exhibitions to celebrate it.

TheSolomon R. Guggenheim Museum, a museum of modern and contemporary art, is housed in the last great building created by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1943, recognised as one of the masterpieces of contemporary international architecture. To celebrate the 150th anniversary of this famous architect, the museum has prepared a series of events that range from reduced price entry fees on 8th June to activities for families, gadgets and commemorative menus in the museum stores, as well as a display of rarely seen large scale photography and new contents on Wright and his architecture.

Frank Lloyd Wright at 150: Unpacking the Archive is the title of the great exhibition with which MoMA is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of Frank Lloyd Wright. The exhibition will open on 12th June and will cover nearly 400 works that the architect completed between 1890 and 1950. The exhibition will be organised in 12 sections, each one centred on an object or group of objects, placed in context and interacting with other works at MoMA. Wright’s architecture will be presented through drawings, models, videos, furniture, fabrics, photography and much more, with material from both the MoMA archives and from external collections never before seen in public.
