Building for Brussels - Architecture and Urban Transformation in Europe

News

An exhibition showing how architecture and urban planning can offer answers to the five challenges facing Brussels in the years to come.

Building for Brussels - Architecture and Urban Transformation in Europe The city of Brussels is facing important social changes today, and the curators of this exhibition offer examples of how architectural and urban design can respond to the challenges of demographic growth, mobility, public constructions, the urban economy and the new polarities and offer important opportunities to build the cities of the future. The curators seek answers in the evolution of major European cities such as Madrid, Zurich, Hamburg and Rotterdam, where radical urban transformations have become opportunities to create jobs, improve access to public transportation, cut the cost of building new homes and reorganise public spaces. They examine these cases through models, screenings and photographs of a selection of projects by Rem Koolhaas (OMA), Peter Zumthor, MVRDV, Lacaton & Vassal, Christ & Gantenbein and Office Kersten Geers David Van Severen.
