The Garden. The project for a temporary garden installation in Hanoi.
Swiss architecture firm, BUREAU A has designed and constructed a temporary garden installation in Hanoi, Vietnam, as a kind of "tropical forum". It is located in a former factory that dates back to the soviet era, which is rapidly turning into a creative and cultural hub in the capital of Vietnam.

As part of the Tadioto é/bar/gallery project, which Duc Nguyen Qui – journalist, writer and artist – created as an alternative creative hub in Hanoi, the architects from BUREAU A were invited to design a temporary installation. It is located in an old penicillin factory in Hanoi.

Gardens have a long tradition as places of meditation, as as meeting places, and their observation of the magnificent collection of Bonsais at the Hanoi History Museum also gave the designers some ideas for creating this green island in the factory, built with the aid of local labour, sourcing native plants and commonly used materials like charcoal bricks.

The Vu'òn installation has been used as the location for a series of lectures by designers from different parts of the world and for a workshop with students from the Hong Kong Polytechnic School of Design, drawing on the creative power of a green backdrop.
