Manifesta 10. The European Biennial of Contemporary Art, St Petersburg
Manifesta 10, The European Biennial of Contemporary Art, opened on 28 June at the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg and will run until 31 October, showcasing the works of more than 50 contemporary artists and featuring lots of collateral events.

The Hermitage Museum will be showcasing the works of more than 50 contemporary artists from all over the world; some of these artworks were created specially for Manifesta 10, and take stock of the social and cultural context of contemporary Russia.

Still, Manifesta will not only be limited to the museum, it also offers a public programme, an educational programme and the Unlooped-KINO section for films.

This offer is boosted by the parallel programme, initiated by Manifesta and realised together with The Hermitage Museum XXI Century Foundation. These are independent events specifically designed to coincide with the European Biennial of Contemporary Art and aim to promote local artistic and cultural life by engaging regional, national and international visitors.

The perhaps controversial choice of St. PetersburgWhile our work may be conducted in realms of debate, negotiation, mediation, and diplomacy, it has achieved its result: providing a stage for art to present criticality, complexity and nuance .”
