Hotel Tierra Patagonia. Pure nature.
The project by Chilean architect Cazù Zegers’ firm at the entrance to the Torres del Pain National Park on Lake Sarmiento, fits into the unique surroundings like a fossil or an old piece of smooth, weather-beaten wood.

The hotel blends in so well with the majestic landscape of the Chilean Patagonia that it is hardly noticeable on arrival. This symbiosis with nature is the actual core to its success from both an architectural and interior point of view.

The curved building is over two hundred metres long and clearly resembles a shape created by the incessant wind which moulds everything in the area, or a fossil, as architect Cazù Zegers, project director, explains.

Shingle cladding in local wood “lenga” decorates the facade and is also repeated in internal flanking. In fact, the main protagonist here is definitely the landscape, the Torres del Paine National Park, which is intensified by large full-length windows in the common areas.

Simple but cosy rooms are the result of the interior design conceived by Alexandra Edwards and Carolina Delpiano, made out of local materials and produced nearby.

Tierra Patagonia Hotel & Spa is a Boutique Hotel of forty rooms owned by the Purcell family, well-known for their hospitality structures that excel for their particular regard for the environment like Tierra Atacama in the Chilean Highlands and Ski Portillo, an exclusive ski resort in the Andes.
