Davy Johns Restaurant by RED Arquitectos RED Arquitectos, the architecture firm headed by Susanna Lopez is the team behind the interiors of Davy Johns Restaurant in Veracruz, Mexico. An old, repurposed house that RED Arquitectos have turned into a very friendly eatery.

A fine, old home with very particular architecture in Veracruz, boasting brick vault ceilings and a patio - the perfect stepping stones for the revamp and conversion by Mexican firm, RED Arquitectos headed by Susana Lopez.

The idea of the clients was to turn this family home into a home-style restaurant, so the patrons feel right at home, and at the same time so do the owners - a win-win situation given all the time they spend at the Davy Johns Restaurant!

The RED Arquitectos designers clearly and extensively explored the needs and wishes of their clients to create a friendly space that also reflects the actual personality of the restaurant owners. They opted to balance the Ying and Yang, the materials and textures - leather, brick, timber - and included rounded seating, a floral-patterned floor, and original artworks by local artist Angel Javier Martinez, all of which make the space special and unique.

The interior design they created is characterised by “Gemütlichkeit”, the famous, untranslatable German word that still gives off the sense of a welcoming, convivial atmosphere thanks to the empathetic photography of Armando Ascorve.
The interior design by RED Arquitectos for Davy Johns Restaurant is completed by the gorgeous patio, where a solid wood table and benches await guests. Here, the interiors are not only extended towards the outdoors naturally and visually but the greenery also fits in perfectly with the venue's materials.

Susana Lopez and RED Arquitectos have proved yet again that if you actually sit down and listen to your clients and get a real feel for the place, you've got everything you need to make whoever uses the architecture happy.
