Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden: wonders of autumn.
A currently 267-thousand square metre site on the shores of White Rock Lake in Dallas, Texas. An arboretum and botanical garden since 1940, promoting the ties between people and nature, at the same time providing opportunities for education and research. And it all started out as a private garden.

White Rock Lake is a popular day trip destination for the inhabitants of Dallas.

The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden is located on the south-eastern shore of White Rock Lake. Tourists can drop in to the visitor centre and wander through the gardens to enjoy the wide range of ornamental shrubs, trees and of course the many flowers that mark the seasons.

To enhance the experience of visitors with a truly spectacular colour palette, the Nancy Rutchik Red Maple Rill opened on 6th October 2011; this feature was designed by H. Rowland Jackson from Newman, Jackson, Bieberstone, Dallas, a firm that specialises in Landscaping and Urban Planning.

A small “rill” or stream is lined with more than 80 varieties of Japanese maples. Over 200 trees were planted, creating an oasis of serenity, as well as a unique display of this variety.

Many initiatives organised in the park make the Dallas Arboretum an important cultural reference for the area, where it has become a botanic garden that seeks to involve the local population.

The entire arboretum transforms in autumn to feature pumpkins – the consummate vegetable of this season – in its fall festival.
