Archtober 2017 in New York October is here and with it the seventh Archtober,  an annual celebration of architecture and design in New York City. Like in past years, the 2017 instalment of Archtober presents lots of events to get to know NYC architecture and includes guided tours, exhibitions, lectures and films.

The seventh annual Archtober is taking place 1-31 October - a month-long celebration of architecture and design organised by the Center for Architecture of the AIA, in collaboration with 60+ partners and sponsors. Like every year, it gives you the perfect opportunity to explore the varied architectural scene offered by the city that never sleeps.
Indeed, one of the most popular initiatives with the general public is the “Building of the Day” tours, where participants are accompanied by architects on a discovery tour of NYS's iconic buildings, contemporary constructions and infrastructures. Today's (10 October) tour is of the former Naval Hospital Cemetery, which was disused since the 1920s and has now been turned into a green park populated solely with native plants by Nelson Bird Woltz Landscape Architects, as part of the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway. Then there is the Open House New York Weekend of 14 and 15 October, an event also extended to many other cities around the world (link).
The heart and soul of this architecture and design festival in New York is the Center for Architecture and its Archtober Lounge, home to debates and meetings as well as theme exhibitions, some of which are actually displayed in other parts of the city. Just visit the completely restyled Archtober site to find out more -it is even more user-friendly and includes a calendar and map so you won't miss out on even one highlight of this event where the city's leading cultural and professional institutions work together to offer the best and that counted 500,000+ visitors last year.
