Bizzarro and Kengo Tange for Hotel Romeo, Naples
Located close to the harbour in Naples and the famous Maschio Angioino, the Hotel Romeo was designed by Japanese architect Kenzo Tange. The spa designed by architect Sergio Bizzarro and his staff, coordinated by Erica Giunchi, occupies all of the eighth floor.
The design concept inspiring the architects is the eternal contrast in the city of Naples: the sea – Vesuvius.
Large slabs of light stone uniformly cover the walls and floor of the spa, and against this even background the contrasting colours of the sea and fiery red are projected.
The wellness centre has four rooms for treatments, a panoramic terrace, a hydrotherapy pool and a sunbathing area overlooking the gulf, a hammam and a fitness area. The dramatic hall is accessed via twin elevators in the centre of the hotel projecting sounds and visions to prepare visitors for the emotional experience awaiting them.
