1937 - Afra Bianchin was born in Montebelluna (Treviso)
1957 - Tobia Scarpa did his first work for the Venini glassworks.
1957 - He began working with Afra Bianchin.
1959/60 - Scarpa completed his first design project in an Interior Design course held by Franco Albini (Pigreco armchair)
1959/63 - Scarpa worked for his father Carlo, a professor at the I.U.A.V. (University Institute of Architecture in Venice) on architectural and design projects
1969 - The couple obtained degrees in architecture at the Faculty of Venice, but already had a well-established professional business.
1960 - They took an active part in the setting of the firm, Flos.
1960/63 - They worked with Dino Gavina as designers creating the sofa "Bastiano" and the bed "Vanessa".
1963 - They began working with Meda.
1964 - They worked with Stildomus, owned by Aldo Bartolomeo.
They met Luciano Benetton, designing his first factory (knitwear), his home and his chain of shops. Benetton developed a new approach to management of production, distribution and sales, taking great pains over the company image.
