The London Aquatics Centre, designed by architect Zaha Hadid for the 2012 Olympics in London, has been completed in its final form, and members of the public can now swim in the pools where the Olympics were held.
The facility stands in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, with its main axis parallel to the river and at right angles to Stratford City bridge, with the three Olympic swimming pools arranged along the axis.
The base of the building blends into its surroundings and establishes a connection with the bridge, serving as the architectural element containing all the different functions.

The Aquatic Centre is a place of big numbers: 600,000 ceramic tiles were used in the building! As it was built for public use, the architects of Zaha Hadid Architects used sustainable and energy-saving technologies wherever possible, using 32% less drinkable water than other swimming pools of comparable size.
