Taking Care TAMassociati Italian Pavilion Architecture Biennale

The comic strip is the medium chosen by TAMassociati to present their plan for the Italian Pavilion at the 15th International Architecture Show coming up May 28 through November 27 2016 in Venice under the direction of Alejandro Aravena.
The pavilion will host 20 projects by Italian studios selected to illustrate how architecture can play an active role in "taking care", in making a contribution and making the difference in the awareness, defence and exercise of human rights.
Projects will be selected in a number of areas: living, working, health, education, and culture, in relation to a variety of different clients (public sector, private sector, associations, civic organisation). The exhibition will begin with a series of photographs tracing the concept of the common good in Italy and continue through experimentation in the field to conclude with a call for action.

"Our proposals are seeds that can give life to a process of civil reawakening, starting with the 2016 Architecture Biennale as an incubator," says the team of curators, composed of architects Massimo Lepore, Raul Pantaleo and Simone Sfriso of TAMassociati , in presenting their theme, "TAKING CARE, Progettare per il bene comune/Designing for the common good".

The pavilion will also exhibit 5 new projects entrusted to 5 national associations working in the front lines in peripheral areas in Italy. Architects and associations working together can use design as a tool for action in for promoting quality, beauty and people’s rights in suburbs and degraded areas. To make these tools effective, the opening of the exhibition will be marked by the launch of a campaign to collect funds through private sector sponsorships and crowdfunding.
