The Nepal Pavilion for Expo Milano 2015 was finally completed on July 12. Work on the pavilion had been suspended when many of the workers returned to Nepal after the terrible earthquake in the country in April.

The Nepalese government appointed Implementing Expert Group (Ieg), the architects who designed the pavilions for the 1988, 1990, 2000 and 2010 world's fairs, to create the pavilion.
The shape of the structure recalls a mandala, the circular diagram made by combining different geometric shapes (the dot, the triangle, the circle and the square) to form the circle of life. And to surround visitors with the atmosphere of the most ancient settlements in the valleys of Kathmandu, the pavilion replicates traditional Nepalese building elements: arcades and temples with 42 hand-carved columns.

The theme of the Nepal pavilion is "Food safety and sustainability for development"; the country boasts a high level of biodiversity, and the geomorphological features of its land make it an example of mountain agriculture, with natural methods, terraces, and a wealth of organic produce.
