Henning Larsen wins an architecture competition in Nigeria Henning Larsen Architects has won the first prize in the competition to design the Calabar International Conference Centerin Nigeria. The centre will host events of great international importance, promoting development in the area and boosting the local economy, and will also be able to host concerts, exhibitions and film festivals. The architect’s approach to the project is based on the local context, for the building will be located near the delta of the river on the border between the Nigerian state of Cross River and Cameroon. The building is a sculpture composed of four volumes standing on a common base which follows their shape. The building is located in a central position on the top of a hill, permitting creation of a natural amphitheatre for the public with spectacular views of the river delta.
