Ameller Dubois & Associés exhibition at Galerie d'Architecture Paris

The exhibition “Plans Rapprochés / Match Cuts” which just opened at Galerie d'Architecture in Paris focuses on buildings designed over the twenty-five year history of Ameller Dubois & Associés.
The studio’s founders, architects Philippe Ameller and Jacques Dubois, emphasise in their presentation of the exhibition that every stage in design and construction of the buildings is accompanied by great moral tension, not only taking into account the building’s aesthetic value but considering social value as an essential component of architecture.

Philippe Ameller and Jacques Dubois say that architecture can convey simple emotions and share ideas of use and beauty with everyone. The architect’s role is therefore locating the balance in design between evolution of lifestyles, materials, economic requirements and plans, environmental issues and context. On-going study, including compromise and a talent for synthesis, is presented in the exhibition through some of the studio’s most important projects, including the Provins police station and Les Pierres Noires residence in Nantes. Recent projects include renovation of an office complex and covered market in Pau, among the six finalists shortlisted in the Future Projects/Urban Design category in the WAN (World Architecture News) Awards.
