Zaha Hadid on exhibit at Palazzo Franchetti

In conjunction with the 15th International Architecture Show - Biennale di Venezia, Fondazione Berengo pays homage to the late architect Zaha Hadid. The retrospective exhibition will be held at Palazzo Franchetti, the beautiful 15th century building on the Canal Grande where the foundation is based. The works are exhibited on different bases (paintings, drawings and models) and media (photography, film) to convey the dynamism of Zaha Hadid’s projects and the studies that lie behind every project by Zaha Hadid Architects,
whether completed, under construction or unbuilt.
The retrospective starts with Zaha Hadid’s first experiments with the Russian avant-garde and the compositional techniques of fragmentation, the Malevich Tektonic project (1976-1977), and concludes by documenting the projects due to be completed in the course of the year such as the Port Authority of Antwerp and the Mathematics Gallery of the London Science Museum. It also includes three works considered milestones of the architect’s career and studio: the Vitra Fire Station (1993), which was the first project Hadid completed; the Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art in Cincinnati (2003), which helped win her the 2004 Pritzker Prize, and the Maxxi Museum in Rome (2009), in which she used and developed further applications of CAD.
One room will be dedicated to photographer Helene Binet, whose snapshots documented numerous works by Zaha Hadid and her studio, from the Vitra Fire Station to recent projects such as Salerno Maritime Terminal, opened on April 25 2016.
