The exhibition underway at Vitra Design Museum Gallery features a life-sized reconstruction of Verner Panton’s 1970 "Phantasy Landscape".

Visiona 1970 – Revisiting the Future exhibition, Vitra Design Museum Gallery

The 1970 "Visiona 2" project commissioned by Bayer AG offered designer Verner Panton an opportunity to experiment with new forms and create dreamlike spaces representing a radical vision of the 20th century interior. Pop culture and the social upheaval of the 1960s and ’70s are the principal sources of inspiration for the designer’s interiors.

This is the context of "Visiona 2", including "Phantasy Landscape": a "cavern" of organic forms making up a relaxed environment in bright colours, without clear divisions between the furnishings and the rooms themselves.
The space has been reconstructed in its original size for the exhibition currently underway at the Vitra Design Museum Gallery. The room has no windows and therefore no contact with the outside world. Its shapes and colours might be viewed as an attempt to bring the interior forms of the human body outside of the body.
