The first prize at Interieur Awards 2014 goes to a table made using 3D printing

The Keystones table by designers Mario Minale & Kuniko Maeda of studio Minale Maeda in Rotterdam (NL) has won the first prize in the Objects category of the Interieur Awards 2014. The designers used 3D printing to make the single component that joins together all the table’s wooden parts.
The project’s complexity lies in the creation of this single element that can be printed on demand and carried easily from one place to another. The other elements making up the table are simple and allow the table to be adapted to suit the client’s needs, within certain sizes and materials.

Application of new technologies and materials to designer products and the influences and transformations involved in the designer’s work are the themes the judges focused on in selecting the 20 winning projects.
The winning projects will be made in the form of prototypes and exhibited October 17 through 24 2014 at Biennale Interieur 2014 - Kortrijk (Belgium).
