Studio Corte Great Land Installation YAP Maxxi 2015

The Great Land installation by Corte creates a portion of a landscape, a glimpse of the countryside in the big city ' in Rome across from Maxxi, the National Museum of 20th Century Arts designed by architect Zaha Hadid.
The Roman studio's project won the YAP (Young Architects Program) in support of young architects, promoted in partnership with MoMA/MoMA PS1 of New York, Constructo of Santiago, Chile, the Istanbul Modern of Istanbul and MMCA of Seoul.

The installation is composed of a big clump of earth with grassy areas and gently rolling hills, planted with species native to the area. It also has colourful picnic blankets both moveable, available for visitors to use, and fixed in place to conceal the nozzles of the irrigation system. The clump of earth is a rectangle 30 metres long, 9 metres wide and 4 metres high, enclosed and defined by a black wooden wall covered on the inside with mirrors that dilate the space available and multiple the landscape infinitely. On one side of the installation is a stage for hosting the events included in YAP FEST 2015, a programme of free summer events organised by Maxxi.
