Helsinki Design Week Diary

During Helsinki Design Week, Floornature offered a free trip to the Finnish capital for the winners of the "First Work" and "Photograph" categories in the second Next Landmark contest.
Architect Shoko Murakaji, whose project Villa921 won the first prize in the First Work category, has sent us a photographic diary of his trip to Helsinki.

His story in pictures includes everything from Alvar Aalto’s historic Academic Bookstore (Akateeminen Kirjakauppa)to the great architect’s home and studio, the halls of the Design Week exhibition and works by Finnish architects such as Temppeliaukion kirkko (Temppeliaukio Church or Church of the Rock) by Timo and Tuomo Suomalainen, Myyrmaki Church and Pakila Church by Juha Leiviskä, Viikki Church by JKMM Architects, and the buildings housing the outlet stores of well-known Finnish companies such as Arabia and Marimekko, the famous maker of printed fabrics.
