Gaetano Pesce. The time of diversity exhibition at Maxxi

Maxxi, Italy’s National Museum of 21st Century Arts in Rome, designed by architect Zaha Hadid, hosts an exhibition about the creative career of architect, designer and artist Gaetano Pesce.
Organised into seven theme areas which visitors can freely choose, the exhibition includes drawings, drafts, sketches, original models and two installations created specifically for Maxxi.

The key theme of the exhibition is diversity, also expressed in an installation set up in the first part of the exhibition consisting of a series of 40 mobile panels which can be rearranged to create different exhibition routes. The second part of the exhibition focuses on a single work designed specifically for Maxxi, representing Time. Outside Zaha Hadid’s building is a gigantic version of Up 5&6, the armchair shaped like a woman that Gaetano Pesce designed in 1969 to represent the female condition.
