DMY International Design Festival Berlin 2014
The DMY International Design Festival Berlin 2014 , a key event in the well-known Berlin Design Week, offers an overview of new trends in architecture, furniture and product design: a very popular international showcase of design. The old Berlin Tempelhof hangar was the location housing new talents and well-known designers for five days.
One new feature this year was presentation of work with a focus on “social design”, in which people and sustainability are the focus of the approach to design.
During the Festival the finalists were announced in the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany; the winners will be announced in September. Finalists include Czech company TON, a special prize to Flowers for Slovakia with VITRA in the "Exhibitor" category. In The category "Education" was honoured the Lund University School of Industrial Design and the prize for the "New Talents" went to Fischer Weidenmüller Unterberg.
The award is Germany’s highest honour in product and communication design, presented by the Federal Minister for the Economy and Energy, recognising not only innovation and design but usability, ergonomics, ecological aspects and the intellectual content of the works entered in the competition.
