The exhibition open until January 7 2012 at the Vitra Design Museum picks up on certain aspects of a theme common to the work of Rudolf Steiner, represented by another exhibition open at the same time, "Rudolf Steiner – The alchemy of everyday life".

BioMorph-Organic design exhibition

While Steiner saw organic design as an intellectual exercise, visitors to the "BioMotph-Organic design" exhibition will be able to see how the theme "biomorph" was addressed by other world-famous designers with very different methods and results. The exhibition includes works by Carlo Mollino, Luigi Colani, Gaetano Pesce, Marc Newson and Konstantin Grcic.
The exhibition follows the development of the concept of "organic" in all twentieth-century design, because while it is true that organic design is normally associated with soft, sinuous forms, it is also true that in today?s society, reference to natural models has become synonymous with "sustainability", with respectful use of non-renewable natural resources, with a form of design demonstrating awareness of the aesthetics of nature and ergonomic constructions.  Moreover, use of new techniques and of computerised design and prototyping techniques have made it easier for designers to experiment with organic forms and structures.
