Apartment Letna by Jana Schnappel Hamrová
Jana Schnappel Hamrová,
Letna is an area of Prague and a building where the apartment of the same name designed by Czech Jana Schnappel Hamrová, dating back to 1938, is located. The façade and internal details of the apartment buildings are historically protected and Hamrová has preserved several features like doors, windows and radiators.
The architect-engineer has based her design around these, as astarting point for additions that bring the apartment up to date, while at the same time leaving it in its original historic setting. In order for the period features to emerge to the full, Hamrová has surrounded them with minimalist style. Everything recalls 1938, except the conception of the spaces. Despite the fact that the materials, lighting and fittings echo an atmosphere of the past, it is difficult not to have an open spacein 2017.
